Everyone has the ability to communicate with spirits, even though we may not be aware of their presence. Recognizing a spirit and connecting with it requires perception and focus. In some cases, that can be as simple as sitting quietly in a room and allowing yourself to "feel" the energies around you. In other situations, making contact can may require deeper concentration and meditation. Just as it is important to learn the correct methods for any task which combines ability and skill, you must also learn how to communicate with spirits.
Spirits in Dreams
A common setting for spirit communication is the dream. When we dream, our conscious mind relaxes its control over what we think and perceive. This makes dreams a natural environment for spirit contact that we may normally dismiss or reject.
Spirits often initiate contact in dreams as a way to offer comfort. When they appear, they are usually seen as healthy and peaceful. They may let you know that they understand any grief you are feeling and offer reassurance that they remain close in spite of the physical separation. A dream visit from a spirit may also bring a message or warning, usually pertaining to health or finances. Keeping a dream journal is an excellent way to track any spirit communication you receive.
If you have an unresolved issue with someone who has passed to spirit, you don't have to wait for their spirit to contact you. You can invite them to visit your dreams by simply asking them to appear. Don't be disappointed if you wake and find that your dreams have no connection to the loved one you wished to contact or that you remember nothing at all. Spirits are not always able or willing to respond when we ask. Be patient and continue trying.
Spirit Meditation
Meditation is a procedure which helps open your mind and sharpen your senses. It focuses your thoughts so that you gradually exclude disruptions and go deeper within yourself, activating your sixth sense. This allows you to sense energies, or spirits, from beyond this earth plane.
A common meditative practice is to make yourself comfortable in a room where you will not be interrupted, breathe slowly and deeply and focus on a single thought until all other thoughts leave your mind. Don't expect to meditate perfectly or receive spirit contact your first few tries and don't become discouraged if you find you cannot focus for long periods. Meditation is a process which must be learned and practiced. If you meditate regularly, you will eventually find yourself going deeper into a meditative state and become more receptive to spirit contact.
Spirits are always around us. With patience and practice, anyone can learn to recognize their presence, make contact and begin receiving messages. For more information on spirit contact read The Benefits of Spirit Communication and Five Common Signs of Spirit Communication.
