Spirits are all around us and contacting them is easier than most people realize. Did you know that you can invite spirit guides to visit in your dreams? Dreams are the perfect environment for making contact with spirits. When we dream, our conscious mind relaxes its control over what we think and perceive, making us more receptive to energies and entities we would not normally notice while awake.
How To Contact A Spirit Through a Dream
Making contact with a spirit through a dream is one of the easiest and most common methods of communicating with one who has passed. This connection can be used to relieve grief and relay messages or as a way to resolve unsettled issues.
The following exercise can help encourage a dream visit from a spirit:
- Make yourself comfortable in bed. As you begin to fall asleep, visualize the person you wish to meet in a dream. Concentrate on their face, a certain trait they were known for or the memory of something the two of you shared.
- Permit yourself to fall asleep.
- Upon waking, note what you are feeling and thinking and any visions or dreams you had. Don't be concerned if you can't remember all or even any of the dream. Instead, pay attention to how you feel throughout the day. Most people report feeling a sense of calm or peacefulness after interacting with a spirit in a dream, even if they cannot recall the details of the interaction.
- Record the dream in a dream journal. List the date of the dream and as many details as you remember such the setting of the dream and people, objects, animals or colors which appeared and conversations which took place. Also, record how you felt during the dream and after waking.
- Make note of any symbolism in your dream as spirits often use symbols as a way to convey messages. For example, dreaming of an anchor may signify staying in one place while dreaming of a bridge may represent a connection or transition.
- If you feel the situation is unresolved or would like to continue contact with a particular spirit, repeat this exercise each night until you are satisfied with the outcome.
- Don't be discouraged if your dreams have no connection to the spirit you wished to contact or if you remember nothing at all. Spirits are not always willing or able to respond to our requests. In some cases, as the day progresses, you may recall bits and pieces of your dream or "feel" a certain way.
Be patient and continue this exercise whenever you wish. In time, as you review your dream journal, you may notice patterns and messages which relate to recent experiences or your life in general.
