An aura is an energy field which surrounds all living things. Auras can be seen physically with your eyes or intuitively in your mind's eye.
Children are born with the ability to see and feel auras, but only a small percentage retains the talent beyond school age. While some adults spontaneously develop the ability to see auras, most do not naturally possess this skill, but are able to learn it.
Feeling an Aura
If you'd like to feel your own aura, rub your hands together until they are warm and tingling. With your palms facing each other, slowly bring them together until you feel a slight resistance. The resistance you feel is the edge of your aura reflecting off your hands.
To determine how large your aura is, have a friend rub his or her hands together to warm them. Starting about 12 inches away, have your friend slowly bring his or her hands closer to your body until they feel a slight resistance.
Should your friend have trouble feeling your aura, have them repeat the exercise with their eyes closed. This will block outside distractions and heighten their intuitive abilities.
Seeing an Aura
To learn how to see an aura, find an area of your home where you can relax and won't be disturbed. Adjust the light so the room is dimly lit.
Have a friend position him or herself in front of a plain, neutral background. A soft white or light colored wall works best. Your friend may sit or stand, but should choose a position that they feel comfortable maintaining for a few minutes.
Stand or sit in front of your friend and focus on the middle of his or her forehead. This area is known as the third eye and is associated with visions, clairvoyance and the ability to see auras.
Using your peripheral vision, (the area of your sight which occurs outside the center of your gaze,) focus on your friend. Keep your gaze on the center of his or her forehead.
After thirty to sixty seconds you should begin to see a soft glow behind your friend. This glow usually appears as a white or golden light a few inches from his or her body. This is their aura.
As you continue to focus you may soon see one or more colors surrounding their body. These colors often change or shift in size and shape.
With regular practice, the colors you are able to see will become sharper and clearer. You may also notice certain colors consistently associated with a particular person.
You can practice seeing your own aura by sitting or standing a few feet away from a large mirror and following the same steps.
Like most things psychic, learning how to see or feel an aura is a lesson in patience. While some people can immediately perceive auras, others may need a few days or even months of practice.
